Thakkali Thokku / Tomato Thokku

Thakkali Thokku 




Ingredients 

Tomato - 1kg (finely chopped/puree ) 
Tamarind - goospery size
Garlic - 15 (peeled and sliced)
Turmeric powder - 1/4tsp
Kashmiri chilly powder - 2tbsp
Gingely oil - 6tbsp
Mustard seeds-1tsp
Urad dhall - 1tsp 
Curry leaves - 1sprig
Fenugreek powder - 1/2tsp
Mustard seed powder - 1tsp
Jaggery - 1tsp
Salt - as you needed


Preparation :

🔹Take heavy bottomed wide pan and add Gingely oil,once it's hot add mustard seeds and urad dhall let it temper and add garlic 

🔹Then add the finely chopped tomatos  and let it cook well, soft and mushy paste

🔹The tomato release some water, so no need to add extra water. Now add turmeric powder and Kashmir chilly powder and mix well

🔹Once the water reduced from tomato add the tamarind juice. 

🔹After 5mins add the Fenugreek powder and mustard seed powder,salt and mix it with tomato and close the pan with lid and wait for another 10mins (medium flame) 

🔹Now add  Jaggery and curry leaves, jaggery will give nice flavour

🔹After few minutes the oil will separate from tomato 

🔹Switch off the flame and once it's cool down completely you can store in a airtight container and you can refrigerate for 15days 

Note :

***Whenever you taken out from fridge always use the clean spoon for long purpose

***You can grind the tomato in mixer jar and make a puree instead of chopping
